On Tuesday, October 11, the Skagit Valley published an article on the tight race between Doris Brevoort (D) and David Hayes (R), who are competing to represent the 10th Legislative District in the State Legislature.
“It’s a completely critical time in education. Not just funding, but how education is established in Washington state,” Doris Brevoort told the Skagit Valley Herald.
Brevoort stressed that the state needs to find a sustainable source to fund education, but said she would like to close existing tax loopholes to do so and create a system where the wealthier pay higher taxes incrementally.
“There is the wealth in Washington state,” Brevoort said. “I think these people are willing to pay their fair share.”
